Thoughts on nutrition supplements
Supplementing your nutrition
I’ve been asked recently by a few people what supplements I take. The answer might surprise you.
In my younger days, I would try anything (minus steroids). Back then, there wasn’t much in the way of supplements. Typically there were protein powders, that really tasted awful.
There were also some chewable pills for weight gain. They were essentially protein pills. I remember them being quite nasty. I also took amino acid drops.
Being older and wiser, my current supplements really are about a simple as it gets.
Our goal is to try to get as many of our nutrients via the food that we eat. There is a daily multivitamin from Nutrilite. I know, they’re from Amway/Quixtar (whatever they’re going by these days), but these are really very good.
In addition to the multi, I also take fish oil caps. When I can, I eat fish about once a week, but the caps really have helped with my cholesterol.
The only other supplement that I use is a post-workout protein powder. We’ve tried a few. Overall, they’re not bad. By far, our favorite is made by All The Whey.
You can only buy this stuff online, as far as I know. You can get it directly from ATW, or better yet, it can be purchased at Bodybuilding.com (that’s an affiliate link, and yes, that’s how we buy it).
There you have it – that’s all that either of us use supplement-wise. There are many, many… many more that you can take. Some are legit. Some are complete garbage. Do your homework before you try any of them.
Feel free to ask us any questions, and we’ll give you our honest opinion.
So, now it’s your turn – What supplements do you use?
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
